Default Re: ce 512 bbc stamping

Tim,
You're info is extremely accurate..... no month in the sequence # following CE or CT .......
The Month & Year are Stamped on the oil pan rail.

One thing I found out, is there are NO PART #'s on these Except a Painted on Code and some various color paint brush strokes applied to the sides of the block.
Pink ,Orange and white denote special high performance for SBC's. I do not know what colors BBC were, but all of the L88's & LS7's I've seen or had , were at least Pink .......
I think, but don't hold me to this.....Green was Low or Standard Performance.

I still have the wooden crate, wired part# / Shipping tag & warehousing pull tag for my '71 built 302 DZ. CE Engine......it's buried in Dads garage "somewhere"

The Chevy Service & Over the Counter Part # & the Chevrolet Special Parts book #'s seen after 1971 do match up to dealer catalog info prior .
