Default Re: BBC oil pan oops

I had the same issue with my 69 Nova. I bought/installed the correct repro oil pan. When I dropped the motor in, it was about 1/16" from the hitting the crossmember. I pulled it back out and installed an original 69 BB pan, and it had the same problem.

I looked at a several original BB Novas and couldn't figure out what the problem was. Even the original BB's had a tight fit.

My solution: I ordered a spacer kit from Summit. They come in different thicknesses. These spacers go between the block and the motor mount. It didn't need much. I think it was a 1/16" spacer that lifted the whole motor about 1/4". Now I have the perfect space between the pan and crossmember, and you really can't even see the spacers.
