Default Re: Carlisle GM Nationals

I am told the the Gang Stamper was a GM Spec Gang stamper supplied under a contract with the primary stamp supplier in the mid 1960's It is a special alloy designed to resist deformation.

I am told that the Repair stamper was made in the tooling department around 1969 as a corrective action to an audit finding when engines were not properly stamped. With the alternator now in the way it was taking too long to re stamp engines in a post production configuration so the repair stamper was invented to speed the process along which saved the alternator removal steps. It is not a special hardened alloy and it's head is mushroomed considerably.
