6223 Crankshaft

7115 is forged piston 427. That said, I've pulled apart many standard bore high perf 427s to find 6223 cranks that have likely been in place since new. In reality, if you are balancing the rotating assembly anyway the 7115 crank is just bragging rights/correctness.

Back to my original question. The guy on eBay has both types of NOS, one for $599.00 and the other for $1,499.00 or so, I'm not saying that that is the value but what is?

I've seen 700-1,500 for nos nitrided 6223.i think 750 is fair.

I had one for sale on here in Sept .2014 for $500 and not one response, listed in on ebay and sold for $500.

It is my understanding that the vast majority of these later 6223 cranks were not nitrided or cross drilled, while the early ones mostly were.

I have taken apart many original 427 engines over the years and most had the 6223 crank not the 7115.

I have several 427s here at the shop and all have 6223 Cranks.

You cant balance a 6223 for 427 application without expensive mallory.

Not true a 6223 will balance without mallory in a 427 , the only 6223 I have seen that had to have mallory was previously balanced for aluminum rods , I've built 3 in the last year using the nos 6223 on ebay , 2 had to have counterweights cut for piston clearance , not uncommon with factory style pistons

The 427 +.030 that I was running with cast pistons had no evidence of mallory -- balanced out OK ... TAZ
