One plate is all you need on the car when it is registered as Historic. Buy the historic plates, put them in the trunk, register your YOM plates and put them on the car. You are issued two registration papers one for the historic plates and one for the YOM plates. Neither expire and it's a one time fee. My historic playes have never been out of the wrapper, and I put them on my 68 when it turned 20 years old. Loooong time ago!
