You really have to do the steam cleaning/degreasing first. All that dirt and oil contaminate the derusting fluid and render it inert before it can even get a chance to work. That was why I pressure washed the underside of my car first. It cleans all the contaminants off of your parts and provides a clean (non oily) area to work with.

Any oil on the parts basically acts as a protective shield preventing the derusting liquid from touching the surface. If I were you I would rent a steam cleaner or a pressure washer (using hot water) and then buy a new batch of derusting fluid.

What does it say on the shampoo bottles? LATHER, RINSE, REPEAT. [img]<<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif[/img]

Interesting...looks like the driver's side upper ball joint is riveted and the pass side is bolted??

You are correct. Kinda surprised me for a 25k car. Judging from the caked on grease from one side to the other, it must have been that way from early on.
