That would have been a 16-second car, stock. Not quite "fast as hell"...TPI went better though.

Not quite "fast as hell"...TPI went better though. </div></div> True enough - the TPI cars were much better but still got smoked by the 5 liter Mustangs and GN's. That time period was when my brother and I were in our mid teens and spent a fair amount of time at the track with our Dad seeing what these cars actually ran. Many consider that time the beginning of the re-emergence of the horsepower wars that continue today. Most kids back then really had no clue as to what a "fast" car was. In the late 80's if you had a mid to high 13 second car that was pretty fast - nowadays that is nothing. Fun times though. Jake |
