Damn,, your archives challenge your memory in volume and quality.....
I talked to Bill Truby at the recent P.I.D./ Keystone Raceway park Reunion Drag Race at PGH. Raceway Park..His Photo archives are massive , said any specific car / events I asked for he'd send. He's digging up some pics of my Dad's many race cars and cars he either tuned or drove. from 1956 - 1972. Thanks ,, this is an awesome thread you're sharing.

We had an aluminum front end 1964 Plymouth drag car that ended up on the local dirt track in the late 70s. The hemi was removed and replaced with a 440 by the new owner and converted to a dirt car. I about fell over when I heard what happened to the car by the new owner.

This happened over 30 years ago in a town about 175 miles from here and I was only made aware of what happened to the car in the last 15 years or so. Locals have said that it was raced for a period of time and scrapped. I have many childhood memories of that car going off against a 63 Plymouth max wedge at the local drag strip. It was uncut and at some point it had a cage installed.

Cool thread...FWIW, All of the circle track late model sportsman cars that my father and I built (more so my father) in the late 60's through the 70's, used new GM Chevelle/Camaro sheet metal. These cars were built using '55-'57 Chevy frames with various spring set-ups.
The car above looks to be more of a LMS car than a Street Stock. That being said, most of the SS cars were taken right off of the street and raced. Pictures of the "33" Circa 1973. Notice "Mike" on the front fender. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/t...89913/page-124 |

A friend of my fathers bought a new 1970 LS6 Chevelle, M-22, 4:10, Cowl Hood car, Tuxedo black white stripe and parchment interior sold new at Reedmen Chevrolet Langhorne, PA while he was in the service. He owned the car for several years sold the car to his brother in law who sold the car to a guy who turned the car into a dirt track car. Rumor has it the car is still in the area but that has yet to be seen.

I never asked him but I am sure he has pictures he loved that car. He said, "The Chicks used to line up to ride in that thang" Reminds me of Matthew McConaughey role aka (David Wooderson) and his big block SS 70 Chevelle in Dazed and Confused.
