Cool info and thanks for the clarification on the stamped shroud #'s.
When owners of the 54 built refer to car #23 etc, if they're referring to build sequence and not shroud #, how are these #'s known?
Also, if the shroud #'s were just to keep track of matching halfs, do #'s beyond 54 exist and how high a # has surfaced?

I'm not aware of records kept on the sequence of the cars. Most people are referring to the shroud # thinking that is the build sequence of the car.
I'm sure Mr Martin has more info than I have on the subject.
Yes shroud #s do go past 54 I think it's up in the 90s.
