Since some of the posts here were about how auctions run, I have a question. If I remember correctly at the Barrett-Jackson auctions, the staff is not allowed to bid on any of the auction cars. I may be mistaken, but I believe that is the case. Do the other auctions not have the same rules? Also, am I correct about the BJ auction company?

Does Mecum let the bidders know that they will also bid on their own cars?
.... We may discuss it here ... but a lot of the bidders are not aware of this practice unless it is in the bidders information that is supplied to them from Mecum. ...Where it is a "common" practice with auction companies... ... I thought Mecum was more "reputable" then to do this ... It just does not seem right. ... Maybe someone from Mecum will chime in and explain it to all of us. |

Barrett Jackson are mainly No Reserve auctions except for the 7-figure "salon" cars. That is why they don't have to chandelier bid on the cars. |
