68's are cool...I like it.. wilma </div></div> That is Dave Dodds 68/L-78 Tom. He is the original owner of his 68 Chevelle. We know him well around here. Great guy. I studied his Chevelle a number of times, when I was restoring my 68 Chevelle. He's a wealth of information with 68 Chevelles. He bought the car new, and never change a thing except for the regular tuneup stuff, and hoses. |

![]() Lots to like about the eBay car and all seems worth a closer look, listing text as below. Anyone know more of the story or the Harrell worker's name? Cool link to the '68 era Harrell operation here... https://sites.google.com/site/1969ch...l-427-chevelle ~ Pete ================================================== ==== VIN 138378K122216 I have for sale an original/survivor 1968 L78 Chevelle SS that is original paint, interior, trunk, and numbers matching drive train. I have original protect-o-plate and build sheet to the car. It has 18,270 original miles on it. The car was purchased from the second owner, Larry Wonder that purchased it when it was two moths old in 1968. He was big into drag racing at KCIR in Kansas City and the Chevelle spent all of its time at that track. The Chevelle was a record holder in 1970 where he established a new class record of 12.44 @ 116.64 class E/H2 at KCIR – Kansas City International Raceway. The original motor survived all these years because Larry also raced it with a L88/427 in it. And in 1970 when the LS6/454 motor was available he bought a new crate LS6 and dropped it into the Chevelle. During all this time he made a living turning wrenches at Dicky Harald’s Speed Shop in KC. When I purchased the Chevelle from Larry I got the 1970 LS6 crate motor and the original L78 369/375 motor. I did a fresh rebuild on the 396 and it still has the standard 11.1 pistons in the stock bores. Everything went back factory stock. Theoriginal paint on this car is in excellent condition and original (EE) code Fathom Blue is a very rare color for 1968 Chevrolets because it was discontinued in December of 1967 so only a handful of early built cars were offered Fathom Blue. The Chevelle was built in October of 1967. Interior is original only the carpet has been replaced. The trunk is unbelievable very nice with its original splatter paint and mat. Chevelle has all original glass and weather stripping throughout. The smog system is original to the car. When Larry bought the car in 1968 he pulled all the smog off and stuffed it in the attic of his garage where it sat in boxes until I installed it back in the car years later. The Chevelle has bucket seats and console with “Roll top” tach and gauges. This is a very nice original/survivor L78 Chevelle. If you have any questions about the Chevelle you can call me at 816-262-2369. ![]() Same take here Bill, is the story true and does anyone recognize the guy's name? Pretty cool car to chase back if all is true, love to know more of its race history also see details of the current survivor status of the car! If a fella was lucky enough to end up w/ the car, it would be hard not to go dog caps or day 2 and TT's etc also maybe add the A&A hood...and the engine possibilities! Interesting that a 1969 radio fits right in the dash with no problem.

This is indeed a very impressive car and I love the full wheelcovers. The owner is a great guy who is very passionate and trustworthy. Someone is going to get an incredibly neat car.
I am sure Chris can elaborate! Bashton MCACN Managing Member |

![]() Auction ended at 37,600 w/o hitting the reserve. Personal preference but I'd enjoy losing the full wheelcovers to a few sideways powerslides on the ride home! ~ Pete
