Going thru my old paperwork and found this, a Lifetime Warranty on a 68 Camaro. Those were the days of dealers selling you undercoating and other "extras". The original owner I bought the car from did not remember what she paid for it. She didn't even remember buying it! Enyone ever see one of these?

If I was still the original owner of one of these cars with this warranty and the dealer were still in business I would love to go back in and ask for some warranty work. Too funny!

Guy I work with had a Dodge Truck with a CarSense "lifetime" engine warranty. At the time underwritten by QuakerState (later the switched to Castrol or maybe the other way around), so he bought the oil at Walmart and had a local garage change it. Long story short, if CarSense doesn't do the oil changes then they weasle out of the warranty. Only got 180k out of the Dodge before the motor failed. My point is the fine print can often be intentionally vauge.
It would fun to head back with ANY rusty Camaro and that certificate just to see how they would react. |

Heres the back of the Warranty. If you don't pay to have the Dealer perform this maintainace every 60 days, Warranty void!

![]() After 1975, a decent commercial lawyer would have had a field day with that "warranty". Under the Federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act enacted in 1975, a company cannot force you to pay to use their product or services in order to keep a warranty valid. This Camaro's warranty was exactly what the law was designed to protect consumers from. |
