I have had many of these as NOS and Used and have only seen the natural stainless steel finish on the outside of the cap.

Hmmm, that's unusual, as all the original &quot;big ear&quot; RC15 caps I've seen were plated, not stainless.

It's stamped steel, not stainless. The pitting in it is from rust I would expect. Kinda kills the patina, huh?
