Here is a pic of my SS350 engine compartment from 75. It may be a bit hard to tell in this pic but I can remember the rod was straight like what is in Kevin's pic. When I removed the Q-jet for the Holley I never changed the rod. Seems to me I have one of those laying around somewhere in my loose parts.

I took a look at the AIM. While there are not very detailed pics, page L48-A3 include a pic that has the rod inserted in the the carb from the fender side. Page L65-A4 also shows the rod going in from the fender side. Rod looks to have a slight bend towards the carb. Page 6-D3 shows a 2bbl rod with a slight bend and mounted from the fender side. View B shows the rubber, plastic coller and cotter pin attachment to the pedel arm. View A on the page shows a C-clip to attach swivel to carb plate. I do not see any different rod used for a manual vs and automatic.
So the big question is, is the rod straight? or slightly bent? (I will have to fix the orientation of my throttle rod ![]()

Well mine is a L48 4 speed manual trans. I don't know how much longer the threads were on mine, but I have not done anything to it but disconnect and reconnect after carb swaps or rebuilds.
While I can say it is not hard angle bent I can say it has a very slight natural bow to it closer to the linkage of the pedal assembly then to the carb linkage.

Yes, I've tried using the AIM before posting but with no luck. Any chance 69PACE could give me an overall length on that throttle rod you have. I can then compare it to some that I've seen.
Thanks, SAL

Yeah when I get home from work I'll grab the tape measure and see what I have and post it for you.
