The dealers installed them at the time of service but it was not federally mandated until 1972 on closed shrouds. Factory photos support this and prior to late 71 the only ones known correct are the open shrouds 'finger guards" as found on the Boss 9 for example. NOS service parts had them installed prior to stapeling the box thus all the restored cars with them. Like to hear what you guys have discussed when it comes to GM so will head over to the search function rather than dilute Charleys new toy post. Looks like perhaps RJ's sons old car out of Florida?
