L 17 9 (December 17, 1969) block with a machine date of T0403CRR (April 3rd, 1970) is questionable @ best. I guess it depends what plant it was installed in? Most Arlington cars I have seen are within 60 days.

"A hone job will clean up any slight ridge on top" I've seen 75,000 mile big blocks that had no ridge. Sounds like this engine is a little tired.
