I have a picture of your yellow Douglass Yenko from the mid 70s I have to find it. Notice both white cars have emblems moumted above the fender body line. The rear Yenko emblem is also the same.

He was only 15, in way over his head, and really needed reliable transportation. The Opel wasn't pristine. I had sideswiped a pole and had to put a fender and door on it, then painted it my my garage with a rented compressor and a borrowed Binks Model 7, and converted that crappy solex carb to a rochester two barrel. But it was very reliable. Even to this day, he says he considered himself the winner on that deal... at the time. I had regretted parting with my first Z/28, and really wanted another. Got a pile of parts in the deal, including many original Z parts. He totaled the Opel a few months later, so I probably rescued this one from the crusher. Will try and post some progress pics after this weekend. Got the headliner in, the windows, weatherstrip, instrument cluster and all the wiring. I have one side marker light that won't light (no power to the socket), so have to disassemble part of the front harness to find the problem. Hoping to have front and rear glass installed by the weekend.

ssl78, I liked to see that picture if you can find it.
I have a story related to the diaper coments. In 1983 I was a proud new father and decided to take my son for a ride in my Yenko. It rode really stiff, and he looked like a bobble head toy straped in the car seat. That was his one & only ride.I was afraid I was going to break him. Twenty eight years later I was looking for my old car or another to restore. Every available car I showed to my son he said that's nice but it's "NoYenko". We found another car to restore, and the name stuck with me. George |
