That stuff happened down here also. I worked for a Chevy dealer in 77-78, and I saw the same things. Cars with no oil (knocking), running out of gas, one Monte Carlo trans shit the bed even before it got off the truck. I moved the 25th anniversary Corvette into the showroom, and it crapped out halfway through the entrance doors. The dealership owners son told me to just get some guys to help push it into position as it was sold already (had to be on display for a certain amount of days)and whoever bought it didn't want anything touched/prepped anyways.
