Frank this is a real SS396 (Super Sport) Chevelle. As proof.....I have the original BORN WITH engine in my possesion. Frank you must be getting the 1968 and earlier model Chevelle`s mistaken for a 1969. For the 1969 Chevelle model the 1 = stands for Chevrolet, the 36 = stands for Malibu, Concours station wagon, 8-cylinder. Nothing in the VIN confirms that it`s a real Super Sport. Dan
