From intro to the end of calendar year 1967 the '68 D90 stripe was essentially the same as '67. On or about January 1 '68 the 2nd design went into production.
The '68 Assembly Manual also shows a D91 stripe, very similar to 1st design D90 that may have not made production.

OK, well that sheds a little light on why I see different stripes on the same model. Is there a picture or design drawing of the D91 stripe?
