Find out the casting dates & make sure they're 4 bolt main and not 2 bolt main blocks.
Besides crankshafts,do they have rods & pistons? Both effect whatever his asking price greatly. Used from 1969-1971,COPO 427 Camaros/Chevelles,454 LS-6/LS-5 Corvettes,454 LS-5/427 Impala & 454 LS-5 Chevelle & Monte Carlo's all used this #512 block in different formats. If you're looking to find the LS-6 Chevelles they came in,I'd copy down the VIN's to confirm, before buying. |

---- Your advice is obviously important, but Rick,,,If he can buy them for the $500 figure wouldnt you say that it doesnt matter much if the blocks are 2-bolt or 4-bolt mains? There are lots of LS5 powered cars out there without correct blocks too. And,,,I personally dont see a bit of difference in a 2-bolt converted to 4-bolt engine if its done correctly in all regards.
----The thing I would want would be a signed bill-of-sale that states that if the blocks are cracked or unuseable in any way its "money back time". The seller should have no problem with those terms......Bill S |
