If you know what you are talking about, I need a straight answer, not speculation.

How do you know this is a fake trim tag?

Only respond if you REALLY know the answer.

1. Not sure if the trim tag photo was removed and then put back up, but I can see it fine in the first post.
2. I don't know that anyone has called the trim tag a fake. If someone did, I missed the post.
3. The pic of the trim tag is not clear enough to determine if it is real or fake. I can see no obvious flaw on the tag itself that would indicate a fake. A clearer pic would help. I would like some input from Kurt S and Mark C after looking at a clear picture.

One poster indicated that HE did not believe the car came with spoilers because the D80 designation was not on the tag. I tried to correct that post by stating that NONE of the 02 cars would have the D80 designation on the tag, even if it had the D80 option. Fisher didn't start using that info on the trim tag of any cars for a few months after this car. In essence, I was stating that the tag had the correct information for an 02D Z/28 RS, regardless of whether it had spoilers.

No question this is a tough crowd. Sorry your first venture here has been somewhat negative. If you do hang around, you will find some of the most knowledgeable guys arouond on these cars.

Trim Tag photo is still on the 1st page. I don't recall anyone saying it was fake. It looks fine to me. There was a side discussion about when the D80 code started appearing which this car does not have and should not have. Nice car just not a very accurate description by the seller IMHO.

Good lookin ..A question about the D-80 option is that the bottom edge of the deck lid wouldn't have been striped correct with the spoiler installed at the factory? looks to have been restored at some point with firewall paint stripe or touchup of sorts ...also RS emblem placement ?? Is the correct jack in the trunk? Whats the rock bottom dollar????

I suspect that's something that's best negotiated privately between the seller and a serious buyer.

The current ad, as I read it says its not 100% restored, so thus its not a survivor. The seller should get some credit for stepping up and listing the car here under the terms of satisfaction guarantee. Dont like the car, he has to take it back. Based on the mileage and the paperwork, its could be a great car to own (repainted or not). Maybe when they added the ZL2 hood, they painted the panel in front of the windshield to match the new hood. Regardless, what a nice car!
