Default Re: Don Swiatek

I am very sorry to hear of Don's passing. Many years ago, as a 10 year old 5th grader in 1966, in the Chicago Public schools, I was assigned a project to interview someone. Having fallen in love with the fast cars of the day, especially Chevys, I had my dad take me to Nickey, which was close by, to interview someone there. Somehow we ended up talking to Don for quite a while, in a glass enclosed booth. Although I cannot locate this 5th grade paper, I remember how freely Don gave of his time. I was fascinated and at 55 years old, still remember the interview. I just recently became aware of Don's passing and I wish I had the chance to tell him that 45 years later I still have this happy recollection, and that it helped fuel my life long love of fast cars. I thought it would be nice to share this with the group and maybe pass this along to his family.
