I was always under the impression that the color differences were to indicate the gph rates. Red being the low end,
blue in the middle and the black pump being the highest rating. But that system may be something that was put into place in the 1980's or after. However, I would agree that the pump should be at least 1970's based on the body design and America decal. Dave will probably educate us in a bit. Also, what are thoughts on using an early pump with todays fuel? I was probably going to use a new pump and paint it blue all over and apply one of the decals on the bracket. Unless of course one of the old ones will work.
