I remember this picture being posted a long time ago. Her name is Carol, and she was a "Jungle Pam" type of girl, only not as well known.

The first Reno Air Races, held in September of '64 at the old Sky Ranch strip on Highway 33 just north of town.

From the Life archive, Douglas SBD-3 dive-bombers circle Midway in 1942, probably not long after the battle.

Chino, CA, 1968. B-17 air tanker. Note the Cragars/whitewalls on the Charger.

WOW pics!!!
Love the Dauntless shot, feels like looking over your shoulder while part of the formation!
Cool Karl Orr pic too, must be the Sierra Hiway location?
Here's a couple more below from the earlier Culver City Speed Shop.

I used to work with a pilot that flew B17's on fires on the Left Coast. Unfortunately, he was killed in a tanker accident in Idaho 5 years ago....hit a mountain top in the smoke (CFIT). I wonder if that is the plane Mike flew??

Interesting 69 Malibu in the above photo. Two tone paint (notice the hood) or maybe even woodgrain applique and with Rally wheels as well. That movie was released in 1968 and the license plates are 1969 models so likely this car was brand new at the time. Wonder if it was a unique dealer model. Looks like a 68 or 69 Javelin as well.
