I'd love to have it. No stripes please. Boy they did some weird things for customers back then.

I read about a 70 W30 convert in plum crazy purple from the factory, and from a write up on that car, it was said that some dealers got around an allotment constraint through using the 'color change' trick (that info came from the original dealer that ordered the car).

It is amazing what an extra $50 would get ya back then. Plum crazy puple was the most popular mopar color in 70.

That Olds is undocumented, although I believe it to be true.

There's also a documented Stage 1 Gran Sport in Plum Crazy.

However, I do believe the cost to get a special-order color was around $100. They're rare but they were done.

that is true, the w30 was (is) undocumented, other than the original owner saying it was and he was a dealer.

Maybe the good part of that story was to get more 442s at a dealer, you changed the color, so maybe some chevy dealers changed the color to get more SS's. food for thought.
