You are correct, I was thinking Boss 302 but it was the new 5.0 that has the problems, both lean on #8 and rapid oil usage leading to engine failure.

Cruised through a few Mustang forums. Small percentage reported oil consumption issues. Most of that percentage reported the consumption ceased after 4,000 miles. No engine failures reported. I'd bet most of the failures are originating with the &quot;throttle it to the ground and never bother learning where the hood release is&quot; crowd.

I seem to recall the LS1 having a similar issue upon it's introduction. Minor annoyance then and now.
