Actually, they did, at the least for the first day's combo...the 5.3L s/c engine went 9.69 @ 140 on a soft 1.4x short time...they only made 9 passes on this totally new combo, and the *very first* pass was a 9.9x while leaving from an idle. You have to remember, this car is being built for NHRA classes, so there is a bit of gamesmanship involved before the car is factored...this is no time to be showing their hole card. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: flyingn</div><div class="ubbcode-body">The ets are way slower then the Cobra jets are turning, that why.. </div></div> You're thinking of the 4.0L whippled S/S CJ's...this is the 2.9L AA/SA car. Anyway, first day out and on it's 9th pass ever, on a lazy 1.4x short time, and it's within a couple tenths of the NHRA AA/SA record (which is held by a Chally DP, btw)...it will be competitive, at least in the little Whipple class. And, the na 427 car is shooting for A/S, which is high-9s/low-10s, which is totally in reach. The problem isn't if it will be "competitive", the problem is if it will be "produced"...GM is still calling this a concept. |
