Only the SS cars had the blackened out rear panels with SS badges through 72. Novas with the exterior decor package had a brighter silverish/black colored metal panel on this same area where the SS panel goes also through 72. 73 did not have any at all I don't believe..
These were all from the factory like this. I don't specifically know of any modifications in this area from any of those performance dealerships you mentioned... Rich
