Anyone have a Car and Driver example of what a 6 cyl did back then? It may have run the number, but wasn't just a cam change.

If this guy has a bone stock survivor, but did bore out the original engine, maybe change cam, and ran a header, is it worth much compared to a car with no history in drag racing? I can't judge how much the drag racing history adds to the car (being a 6 cyl). I think he ran 'special' gas in it. I feel like it is a unique car, for what it has accomplished (if true, it reached 13.85 once in the 1/4).

I don't see the car's alleged drag racing history and/or engine mods adding anything to the value. And IF it's true, you can bet the farm he had to do a whole lot more than bore it, change cam, add a header, and run racing gas in it to run in the 13's

bill, thanks for the info on value add. I kinda thought it would not add that much, just thought it was cool.

I met with him last night, he ran it at US30 4 times, best time was 13.89 at 101 in the 1/4. 361 rear gears (stock). All he changed was the jets (21 to 10?). He ran A stock. He ran once over at oswego (did bad as they did not have the same class). I am not sure anyone had records still for US30 for april-may 1971. His car is registered for those race times and he had to sign some waver for his drive shaft not being strapped. Very cool these things could run that fast back in the day, I believe him, the car is so light (I am digging it, maybe I will end up with it, being an oddball car that really looks good in such zero option plain jane form).
I thought he told me years back it was bored out some and he ran a header, he said nope, just changed the jets and added racemasters in back. Had a tach added so he could shift at 5K, and just got it into third for a brief time. He said most people thought he ran on in just 2 gears, he said nope, he hit third at the end, barely.

I would think the Racemasters would slow him down, weight of two tires and a posi. Back in the day [I know] I was running "T-Pure Stock" with a 221cu.in.V-8 in a1963 Ford Fairlane[one tenth off NHRA recond of 16.5 1/4 mile time]. Put a Posi in it and slow the car down. Hope this helps. Paul

Sam, I can make any thing fast. Do not forget one tenth off of a recond[we ran for money]. 17 passes one day ,at a tree and half jump,at the Grove and came in second, back in the day I think we went faster about three tenths. Back in the day, Sam and Paul. Thank's. *Paul
