Default Acid rain spots on windshield

Hey guys, just need a little help. I have a 2003 Crown Vic as my daily driver and I have a ton of what I believe are acid rain spots on the windshield, which have been there for a few years now. They are starting to drive me nuts. I have tried to hit them at "point blank" range with a power washer and they still won't come out. Any suggestions on how to get rid of them?

Frank,

Try Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.....if it worked great at my vinyl top...I would think it would help your situation.

Post back on your results.

When my wind screens get allot of road film I have used Bon Ami and water to scrub the glass with, usually at car wash time. Just enough abrasive to polish the crud off the glass. Might work on the spots too ? Bar Keepers friend should work too.

Simple and cheap boater's cleaning idea.

Try a 50/50 mix of water and vinegar. Put in spray bottle and spray on.

Works great for water spots on boats baked on by the sun - can use on painted surfaces too.

Polishing compound on a low-speed buffing pad will work too. Just be sure to keep it cool.

How about the new headlight restore kits????

Use 00 steel wool and glass cleaner...works beautiful....saturate the glass with glass cleaner and work the surface with the steel wool...it comes out beautiful, gets all of the contaminates off.

Water spots can be quite tough. They are very common in Hawaii due to the sulfur and other junk in the air from the volcano. I worked at NAPA on the big island and we sold a solution specifically for these water spots. Maybe do an online search for water spot removal solution? The other ideas are good but if these are the same type of spots we would get on the islands you will need more that steel wool and windex. The solution we sold was in a white bottle with green lettering IIRC.

I don't remember. I do remember it came with a white brillo pad and was most likely a mild acid.

It may have been this stuff:

It looks like there are many similar products on the market that will probably give the same results.
