Everybody has their favorite ad from the day and this is one of mine-Mr Gasket ad circa 1976-77. Something about the candy blue and gold just really pops.

-----Whitetop,,,I keep coming back to your add, which is very cool, but that valvecover still looks too darn long no matter how long I stare at the picture. Im fairly sure you dont know the answer (I obviously dont) but maybe someone here does. Is it a six cylinder valvecover or am I just looking at it cockeyed???.....Bill S

It is a sbc. Does look like a 6 banger though but Mr Gasket never made 6 banger covers in aluminum. |

Well Dave, you know Bill is a BB guy. He probably never saw a sb valve cover. HA!

----Seen plenty. Some I wish I hadnt ever looked at. Actually found out that I holed a piston with chunks of the exhaust valve on a very mild 350/250/2bbl mercruiser just tonight. I bought it new and the thing only has about 150 hours on it and it has never been over 4800rpm.. We are scratching our collective heads up here. Of course,,,warrantee is over!!!!!.......Bill S

Vintage 1971 Metalflake paint chart showing their candy apple paint lines, Flip Flops, Star Pearls & Eerie Dress. Metalflake is still around but only carries a few original colors. I remember going to indoor car shows and still being able to smell the fresh lacquer. Laquer gave off a really distinctive smell under the lamps of an ISCA indoor show. Just like mimeograph paper you never forget the smell.I can see "Gary the Local Brush" picking out the colors to put on the Baldwin Motion rainbow scroll car...
