You'd expect Joe Bortz would know of the car also wonder why he doesn't already own it if truly a GM built/commisioned piece?.

Kit car bodies were getting pretty well refined by the mid 50's so the possibility certainly exists it's something by one of the manufacturers/builders on the 'Vette chassis?.
Contacting Geoff Hacker's or cruising his site may yield some info?.
