VIN Issue - Hidden and Title Mismatch

Contact law enforcement to run the hidden vin#. If they ask about the vin tag and title, tell them the vin tag was gone and it was sold on a bill of sale. If the hidden vin# comes back clear, get a state issued vin# and title. If you tell them what exactly happened, thing might go sideways. They might take the car or pay the seller a visit. I am not sure they would get your money back. This would be a civil case. You may want to go see a lawyer and lay all your cards on the table, even if it does cost you a small fee. I would hate to see someone get burned for someone elses illegal activities.
