Default 1961 Impala SS vert, 348 tri-power, 4 gear. HELP

Hello all.

First off, I emailed Super Chevy a couple times already cause I heard they did a feature on this car.

This particular car my Father owned when I was a child. In the divorce it was mentioned that my Mother was to have first offer on the car if my Father ever sold it. She didn't get that & was quite upset over it. When my Father sold it the front end was still in it's damaged state. My Father had 3 parts cars just because. I'd have to ask him again who he sold it to but he lives in Hays, Kansas & it went to one of the surrounding cities.

I think I must have put 100k miles on that car while it sat in the garage. I also cut my teeth learning to drive a manual in it. I spent many a days' outrunning the cops just like "Crazy Larry" in our garage.

So, since there were only suppose to be like 116 of these cars made, any help?

I'll try to get the VIN from my parents to help expedite this. I couldn't make an attempt to own it either since it's a 4 gear & I'm a paraplegic. But I'd really like to see the car & perhaps speak with the owner.

Anyhoots, here's a pic of me & my parents with the car when I was 5.

TIA.

There's at least one more all original low miles survivor down here in SoCal, in Moreno Valley. Actually sounds like the same car. One family owned since new, stored many years. A good friend is after me to have a look at it and he has quoted 116 cars produce in that configuration also. He is a relative of the owner, who does not really want to sell, but he wants to make him an offer within reason, but has no idea how much that should be. Me either, I'm not a '61 guy, and I am still waiting to see it and check the numbers and dates of everything.

Thanks for the reply.

I wish ours would have been a clean survivor. My Father hit someone driving drunk like he did so often back then. The car just needed the front clip & he had 3 sets.

I think if he had never wrecked it, it would have stayed in the family since he's kept a '55 210 Sedan he restored for all these years.

I know a guy out in Hays that's a die hard 409 man, and has several 409 cars. I just sent him an email. If it's out in that that area, I'm sure he'll know of it. I'll let you know when I hear something back.

Awesome, might not hurt to mention my old man's name, Vic Groff.
