I've seen that car. It is a very nice rare car. The owners, Joe and Suzie Lizon, are members of the Canadian Poncho forum. They have a 2nd 65 L-79 that they are/were restoring.
Pete, thanks for posting that info. As you said, there are no documented L-78, L-72 or Z-16 factory built Beaumonts. There weren't a lot of big block Beaumonts built and no big block Acadians. A member here, BeaumontBill, has a couple Beaumont SD convertibles and a 66 L-79 Acadian. Below are pictures of this 65 SD and Bills cars. James ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

GM Canada numbers show there were only 23 L79 Acadian Beaumonts built in 1965. That includes both hardtops and convertibles, but there's no breakdown on how many of each. In 1966, the Acadian name was dropped from the Beaumont and it became a model unto itself. Thank goodness for that, because having both Chevelle and Chevy II type Acadians was becoming very confusing.
There were a total of 63 L79's in the 1966 Chevy II type Acadian (198 L79 Chevy IIs were also built in Canada). Again, there is no breakdown by model, but most were Canso Sport Deluxes. Bill Wertheim's is one of the only known benchseat Acadian Canso Sport Coupes known to still exist and there's an L79 Acadian Invader 2 door sedan in Ontario. There were no L79 Acadians built in 1967. Because so few were built, any existing Canadian L79 Chevy II, Acadian or Acadian Beaumont is a rare car. Bob
