1968 and older Muncies used nuts and washer to hold the shift levers onto the studded shift shafts sticking out of the trans...
1969 and late Muncies used bolts to attach the shift levers...

At the end of the 1968 model year any left over Muncies would have been put into the replacement parts system, NOT used for 1969 production(shifter won't interchange)...
