Not my car, this is copied message from new owner. Story goes Guy drives it here from california and wrecks it. The guy I bought it from purchased it in 1989 and it has set there ever since. It has the shelby tag on the fender well and number matches # on door. Some shelby things missing but I got the hood, But needs work from the wreck. Gonna need some straightening in the front. 9" nodular is there. Has motor but missing transmission. For those who know its the S code Shelby which is the 360 HP Police Interceptor motor. I must have been runner up at the lottery, cause that means it's not a KR |

While I'm no Shelby export, the S-code is a 390. I think some were built with 390s from the Ford factory due to a 428 shortage but that was in 1967, not 1968. My nose is acute and I think there is more to the story . . . Ford guys, help me here!

The shortage was in 1968.
The 428 PI engine was rated at 360 HP. The 390 was rated at 325 HP. The only way to tell the difference is to measure the bore. 4.05" vs. 4.13"

My 1967 GT500 is a Q code, but Shelby installed the GT500 engines in '67. In 1968, the correct GT500 code is S. Great story and great find. This is what keeps me scrounging around the old barns in PA!
