To answer the rest of your questions, it was originally a 283 which blew up in 68 and they replaced it with a 327 and I have the documents on the replacement. Does any one know how to decode these seat no's(7668157 frt.back b-body pass. bkt mdls.-67-87

I've never known Chevelles to get leather seats. A51 is a vinyl bucket seat option. I think you would be looking at another code if the car actually came with leather. The Malibus could be ordered with cloth or vinyl bench seats under different codes. Of course, with GM there were always a few little curve balls thrown in. I think they did that just to keep us all guessing.

Chevelleless after 46 years......but we did find a low mileage, six speed, silver 2005 Corvette. It will just have to do for now.

This car is a Chevelle SS small block? or a Canadian Beaumont ?
I have often seen the 65-67 seats described as "leather". I believe the factory description says "imitation leather". |

This car is not a Beaumont or a Chevelle SS but a Malibu SS..
Best to think of these 66/67 SS Small Block cars as a continuation of the 64/65 SS Small Block cars!. PS - Although not sold in the US, these and other Canadian built cars were available in Canada also shipped to South Africa and other offshore markets too..
