[ QUOTE ]
The black 70 was really sweet. The 68 442 was nice, but that's crazy money for a non-W car. I know people with money over-pay at these events for cars that they really like, but the yellow 71 W30 got me. You go to that level of restoration on a rare car like that and then blow it (my opinion) by drilling holes in the deck lid and installing the wing. Serious pet peeve seeing this on a rag top. For that kind of money, it needs to be right........ [/ QUOTE ] It need to be an Olds Color, something close to original interior color and top. That car started as #42 green, white top, white stripes and green interior. Why it was painted Corvette Yellow I will never know. Paul

Wasn't there an Olds 442 with a Buick engine...or was I hearing things?

Guys…boy wasn’t that a shame what they did to that 1971 W-30 ragtop? Was that car originally Palm green or Lime green? The original Lime green with a white top would have looked fantastic minus the spoiler! It’s sad to see such a rare car defaced. The 1968 442 ragtop was nice but would have looked better with period correct redlines. That is JMHO though!

RM. Sure the Lime GReen Poly would also show up on the "least favorite color" thread for someone too, but I absolutely agree that car in Lime Green Poly with the white top would be so unique.
Did I mention that I didn't like the wing on the rag tops..........? Sorry. |

I got the GM canada data on that W30 ragtop years ago, I recall it being Palm Green.
Also Rick Debrule referred to the GM Canada docs and stated the car had all its original sheet metal, because convertibles were not driven much in the harsh Canadian winter. I will see if I can find the photos I had from 1995 and you will see how much original sheet metal was left, not much! Paul |
