The present demand is only enough to keep one shift running. The Convertible is coming out this fall. There isn't a lot of profit in only running one shift. They are planning on running the new Buick Regal on the same line, so they aren't anticipating any big increases in Camaro sales, as in Z/28. Don't be surprised if it doesn't happen...at least for a while.

The wife's e46 BMW convertible was easy to drive daily. If the top operates with just a button and there is still room in the trunk with the top down, they'll have a winner.

We've put nearly 100k on it, but probably less that 200 in the last 3 years due to a growing family.

That point aside, neither the Z28 or a convertible will probably be driven daily, but they should be able to.

I think it's a real shame that the new Mustange looks so much more like the Camaro. I suspect that might be partially why the Mustang sales have went down.

Actually, I think the 2010 sales are down because of the engine. Why buy a GT with a 315 horse 4.6 3v when you can wait a year and get the same car with a 412 horse 5.0 4v? Same with the V6 cars. This year=210 horsepower. Next year=305 horsepower. I've spoken to literally dozens of people who say they love the new body, but they aren't dropping any coin until the 2011 car hits with the new engines. I dunno, I guess we'll find out next year.

In my opinion GM is going about the possible introduction of the new Camaro Z28 all wrong. They should make the new 5th gen Z28 a low cost, high performance package with no frills or extras, sort of like the original 1st gen ones were. They should be designed for weight reduction, handling, deletes of many unneeded things like nav, bluetooth, mp3, even a whole stereo system. They should have a normally aspirated engine of at least 425 hp and be available with a starting price of say $28,000. If GM wants to make a super high performance Camaro with the supercharging, etc. call it a ZL1.

I couldn't agree more. Adding all of the electronics just adds weight. Build a naturally aspirated, corner-carver with less weight then add the 1969 Badges and Stripes. Price it right and the lines will form around the block. JMO, Ed
