Horrible news for those people.I hope they recover. Weren't Volvo's recalled some 25 years ago for sudden acceleration..ala Toyota..or was that Audi? [/ QUOTE ] Audi had the sudden acceleration problem in the 80s.

I had to drive a full out Corvette race car through the Mecum Bloomington Gold Auction in June and I was more than a bit scared in that beast. It was a full road race car with an "on/off" clutch. I had visions of the event being on U-Tube or some other site if I screwed up.

I test drove a new Volvo wagon when the kids were small, what a PIG, it couldn't get out of its own way. ![]() The Audi 5000 was the one that ran down kids in a driveway. We also had one try and drive off the ferry while we were underway. |

Yeah, the 5000 fwd auto cars had the problem. Brake and accelerator pedal too close and people would begin to brake and suddenly hit the accelerator upexpetedly.
I'll take exceltion about Audi's not accelerating. I'm into 1980's quattro cars. Pike's Peak records, Uncer and the "unfair advantage", Audi's Sport quattro for vintage stuff. Heck, it sure didn't have it in the looks department, so for $75,000 in 1985 these better have accelerated! ![]() They have plenty of moden S cars with twin turbos, V10 , supercahrgers etc. |
