As long as you use a quality top, it will look better with the vinyl top in my opinion. Don't use a cheep repro. Get it from SMS or Kee Auto top.

IMO
i am into 1970's Chevelles and i always hated seeing a White SS until i saw one with a black vinyl roof. it breaks down all that white with perfect harmony to black stripes and a black interior. if your 1969 has the black interior with black side stripe it will look stunning. ![]() attached is a photo of a 70 as i do not have one of a 69.

The car has a black side strip and black interior.
and Mr. Rose had me convinced to keep it on. then I tore the old one off today. I can see that white paint under the glue and it just changed the way the whole car looks.

Put your top back on Donnie, you're killing me....
![]() I agree with most of the others. Not a big fan of white until you add the black top and stripes which really sets it off. The exception is the all white with black stripe 69 Yenko Chevelle. That car looks great with the addition of the Yenko stripes. That car would also give you some idea of what yours wouls look like sans top. ![]()

Donnie,
I can't vote 'cause I love them both ways. While I agree that the black hat breaks up the all white canvas, I gotta say Joe Anglin's car is my hands-down favorite Yenko Chevelle. Which ever way you go, we know you'll do it right and have it looking great! ![]() Here's another peek at Joe's car. ![]()

Donnie, I think you should leave the top on as it is called out on the trim tag.
However if you take precise measurements or cut a template for your VT molding studs and holes you can ad it later if you want. Best of both worlds. Heed Bill's advice re: vinyl tops, buy a good one. Got mine from Kee and was very happy. Approx $90 for a cheap one and $200 plus for a good one but well worth it. Don
