[ QUOTE ]
It will be restored back to factory. Everyone remembers the car, but doesn't have any pictures of it so I have no idea what it looked like back in the day. I've tracked the history back to the guy that had it in the late seventies to early eighties. He said he bought it out of the Super Swap paper in Buffalo as an original car with a blown motor. He then had Jim Oddy build a engine for it and would bring it through the traps at 7 grand. It was Red with Bisquick in gold down the side. Raced the majority of the time at Lancaster. [/ QUOTE ] Zach, cool story...I spent some time on the strip at Lancaster in the mid/late '70's. Oddy did some head work and sleeve work on a couple of motors for me, good stuff. Do you know what dealer sold the car? I know of at least a couple of special order L72's were sold at Glen Campbell Chevrolet in Williamsville. FWIW, the track is still in operation...good luck with the resto ![]() Mike |

It's pretty neat that the L-72 was an RPO in 1968 and 1969 while it was only available as a special order COPO in Chevelles and Camaros in '69. One of the best street engines ever available. I wonder how heavy one of those stripped-down '69 L-72 Biscaynes really weighed? It was probably not much heavier than a Rat-motored Chevelle loaded up with options.

There is also a black 68 L72 Biscayne original owner in Milwaukee. Friend of a friends Father. Neat car with a killer story. Came from Braeger Chevy when he worked there. |

I'll say amen to Mark's comments on the L72 engine. In about 200K miles ours got one valve spring, oil, filter, belts, a fan clutch, water pump and hoses. It wasn't babied but wasn't totally abused either. In the Chevelle parts book is a chart listing the weights of the various options. Tally up your options and then go to another chart to cross reference which springs to use. You can add a couple of hundred pounds by loading a Chevelle with all the goodies. It would be getting the weight up there with a stripped big car. I don't know how accurate the scales were but our Chevelle weighed 3700 with half a tank of gas.

Chevelleless after 46 years......but we did find a low mileage, six speed, silver 2005 Corvette. It will just have to do for now. ![]() |

Mike,
My car was sold out of Laks Chevrolet. I would love to find plate frames or a trunk name plate for the car from Laks. Zach
