CL piece especially in the plum CLR..
Before doing the deal it may be worth noting the build plant as there's always a chance it's a Canadian built car and documents available from GM Canada Vintage Services if so..

You mean this old thing with the 409?

Ha! It's a 409 now...not so sure it's always been one. We still have to figure that out.

Either way it was a cool ride so we drug it home.

Same w/ the '62 as mentioned previously regarding the '67, always take note as quickly as possible of the build plant of these big Chevys..
It's not often it comes up but depending on each different plant's ability to supply models w/ specific options quickly, satisfying demand sometimes necessitated Canadian production units being shipped to US dealers..
Regardless of the location of the production plant or ordering dealer, besides Canadian produced cars delivered in Canada being documentable today, <u>cars originally shipped either in or out of Canada</u> usually had their Vins and options recorded resulting in documents for those Vins available from GM Canada Vintage Services today too..

Cool cars Jacquie!. (both the Chevys...not the T-Bird)

Thanks for the info on the Canadian cars, Pete. That's good stuff to know!

I'm probably going to have to just take my licks and go back after that Caprice. I don't really know why, but I just want it! Heck, I'll get $1000 worth of enjoyment out of it just cleaning it up and seeing what we've got under all that dirt. All that purple interior appears to be there and intact. The only thing I saw that needed attention was the chrome around the drivers seat. I'm definately not going to get rich reselling it...unless....Dan? You got Prince's number??

The 62...it's no 409 car. We took it out of the fumigation tank and looked it over a little. Just a nice SS Ragtop with 409 badging and some kind of a 409 setup. Looks like the low mileage could be acurate, mostly original paint and interior. The block is puzzling...the suffix code is 5J. What is that? The only casting we have been able to find so far is CFD on the back of the block - which I assume is Central Foundry Division?? We will look harder for casting numbers today. It will make someone a nice 409 wannabe driver to enjoy and take to local shows. Here's a picture of it getting a bath. Hope that Caprice cleans up as nicely!

Here's the engine compartment. 340hp - wasn't that in 63??

The trim tag and deck stamp.

5J - What could that be? Maybe a truck motor??

To each his own.

I have not kept up on the values of GM full size body cars so I could be totlally out of line here. I also think that you could buy a 1967 427/385 Implala SS car for the same or less than the price of the subject car here. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

In the Mopar world we refer to the full sized cars
(C bodies) as "sea" bodies, land yacths, or barges.

They don't hold anywhere near the values of the intermediates or smaller bodied cars with the same engines.

You can buy a 67 Coronet R/T with a factory 440/375 engine for $25k all day long.

There's a spider by the trim tag!

Jacquie...the car looks great. Go and haggle with the lady for the 427 car...

I would take that 67 all day at that price. You got a nice car for the price and a 427 car to boot. Post some more pics of that!!
Im glad you bought it otherwise I was hooking up the trailer and getting ready for a road trip.
