Hello,
If it is original there is a flat metal snap ring holding the glass in. It can be taken out with care. It there is no snap ring then it is later GM or Repro. Greg

I think the snap rings were used in the sideview mirrors as opposed to the rear view mirrors?

Yes, they were used in the "Round" sideview mirrors, production and old NOS.
But has anyone seen them on a 69 Camaro "Rectangular" mirror, my guess is not.
