Fake as a $3 dollar bill. It started out life as 1967 model 427 big car distributor or a 396 Chevelle with points. Colvin says 396 Camaro too. Somebody is looking for a sucker.....

Those are actually called "capacitor discharge" systems and are considered the forerunners to transistor ignition.

you say forerunner to ti but those distributors were in corvettes as early as 64,correct? i just wanted to make sure that 1170 that he's trying to sell was not fake but everybody thinks it is so i didn't get a definitive answer from those in the know.no chevy parts books list it at all.i was hoping maybe it was a rare motion, yenko, harrel distributor and that maybe someone with those cars would know.

It's rare all right. It's a 1 of 1, or maybe even a 1 of none. All I can say is "If you want to p*ss away $833.25 be my guest." It has been relisted and is just waiting for some lucky bidder..... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1967-68-C...sQ5fAccessories
