A 1959 D500 just went through Barrett-Jackson. Stunning cars, a true work of art in my opinion.

-----My cousin had a 1957 D-500 in the early 60s. Very cool with those bad-A** spinner hubcaps. He ran around with Atlas Bucrons on it all the time. Cant believe I even remember this stuff! It had a dual quad Red Ram Hemi. One of those little baby Hemis. He blew it up and ended up putting a 354 Chrysler Hemi back in. It ran OK but was so rusty it creaked like a frog. He had a Paxton supercharger set-up for it, but never installed it and wisely decided to move on to a new 64 327/365 Corvette convert........Bill S

The 373 engine code. If you come across a D500 for 1959, the engine code ML382 should be stamped on the pad near the distributor. The 383 was only available as part of the D500 package (as well as the super-super rare Super D500 that had dual quads) The Carter carb should be number 2794S. Fortunately this Dodge has both the correct engine and carb! The rear suspension had 5 leaf springs.

What an awesome find!

For anyone who isn't familiar with the D-500, trust me, it is indeed "real muscle!"

Congrats.

It's amazing the inquiries I've had about this car. I suspect I'll end up getting an offer I can't refuse!
These cars seem to be quite popular overseas!

Some interesting info I've received from some Dodge D500 experts:
No one has ever seen a Royal D500. Most were either base Coronets (lightweight-big engine) or the Custom Royal (top of the line-loaded with options). The Royal was the middle model. It is estimated that approx 120-140 were likely built. At least I know my odds of seeing another one at cruise night are slim..

I wouldn't go by any estimated numbers - we know how that goes sometimes.

However, there is a guy with access to records who is slowly but surely compiling all the info. While I doubt he can give you the info you speak, maybe he is worth emailing to discuss your car? He's done a wonderful job with Max Wedges.
