Al: give me the who/what/when/where of the noise. All the time, in gear stopped, only when moving, etc...also more specifics on the banging. Also, any idea how your guy setup the trans as far as line pressure...new converter?

Rob I have no info on the trans..was "supposed" to be built ready to go..had 1000 miles on it when I got it. Previous owner had been playing with the modulator trying to get it to shift later..Ive been working on the governor with good results..nioses..makes a whirring sound when driving..I can hear the planetaries going with the speed of the motor..the bang is when I put it in reverse..rocks the whole car!!..other than that works OK if I manually shift it..using the go pedal it shifts at about 5100..I need to play with the springs more..just got a floor shifter so I can manually shift..some say the drum is bad some dont know. I want to change the converter for sure but I can do that when I change the motor..thoughts??

Thanks

ALbert

Al, I hate to tell you this, but it could be normal (straight cut planetaries), or it could be any number of other things (line pressure problem, bad pump, bad turbine in converter, etc.)...was it a new converter? The smart move is to get it gone through now, versus later...it really could be any number of things, so anyone that says it's this or that is simply guessing...a trans guy might be able to narrow it down by driving it, but if it's not the guy that originally built it, he's shooting in the dark.

As for converters, my first choice would be Yank, as I love mine, but I'm itching to try one from Neal Chance as they have their pieces in the fastest cars in the country.
