A few days later I went and looked at the car. They put a new battery in it and fired it up. No smoke or knocks and it sounded damn good. I knew I had to have the car. I had no idea about the pace car thing. I saw it as a 396 convertible 4 speed. I bought it that day and drove it home. I started trying to decode the cowl tag & vin and couldn't decode L181A. I emailed CRG and they congratulated me on having a 67 Indy pace replica.
